Menopause Training Partner Based in Sunderland

Bev Giles

Beverley is a menopause awareness trainer and retired detective constable with over 30 years’ service in Northumbria Police. Throughout her career she worked in a variety of highly demanding and complex roles, developing strong communication, investigative and training skills while supporting people in challenging and often high-pressure situations.

Her policing career included work within crime investigation, where she was involved in high-profile cases that required professionalism, empathy and attention to detail. Beverley also served within the Territorial Support Group, carrying out defensive and offensive searches, policing large-scale disorder, examining major crime scenes and training in police anti-terrorist searches.

She later moved into field intelligence, focusing on the implementation of sex offender legislation and the management of dangerous and sex offenders through a multi-agency approach. During this time, she played a key role in the development and delivery of specialist training packages. Toward the end of her career, Beverley worked within Special Branch alongside the security services, supporting counter-terrorism operations and undertaking training in interview techniques and behavioural analysis.

Beverley also completed two overseas policing missions. She was seconded to the Foreign and Commonwealth 7th Contingent in Bosnia, assisting the International Police Task Force in supporting local policing and promoting public service and individual rights. Her second deployment took her to Jordan, where she helped train Iraqi police officers in police survival skills.

Following retirement, Beverley worked as a call taker for a whistleblowing organisation, handling sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and care.

Beverley’s own menopause journey proved to be both confusing and frustrating. Having been on medication for much of her life, she found it difficult to understand what stage of menopause she was experiencing and became concerned that symptoms could too easily be attributed solely to menopause, potentially overlooking other issues. Wanting to better understand her own experience and help others navigate theirs, she trained as a menopause awareness trainer.

Today, Beverley delivers friendly, professional and relatable menopause awareness training designed to help people feel informed, supported and empowered to make educated decisions about their wellbeing. A natural communicator, she is also currently studying BSL Level 1 to further promote accessibility and inclusion. She enjoys keeping fit and DIY.
